#161 Carmel High School

Our Arts program begins with a common vision: inspire, educate, and fully prepare all students to become exceptional artists and lifelong learners. We promote strong ethics and professionalism. We cultivate a sense of community between students, staff, and parents. Building on our community’s roots as a bohemian artist colony, we provoke innovative and productive participation in the arts as compassionate citizens of our global/regional/local community. We model inclusivity and work to ensure Equity of Access for all students. We build dynamic opportunities to foster community connections through service learning with local non-profits, colleges, businesses, and community partners. We teach the highest standards in art scholarship, character, and service. Our students come from incredible geographic distances. From the deep reaches of Carmel Valley in Cachagua to the coastal Redwoods of Big Sur.This consideration goes into our development of all curriculum. Our driving force is connecting our students to arts content in ways that celebrate the individuality of their local communities.
