The West End Celebration is a free, family-friendly event that celebrates the vibrant arts, outstanding musicians, and culinary culture of Monterey County. Held annually in Sand City, this festival transforms the streets into a lively hub of artistic expression, featuring over 170 artists, vendors and crafters, continuous live music on multiple stages, and open studio tours. Attendees can explore a diverse range of art, from paintings and sculptures to multimedia displays, and enjoy gourmet food, craft beer, and wine tasting from local vendors. Local Non-profit and Monterey County businesses also set up shop to interact with their local community. 

There is no admission fee for the West End Celebration. This event is open to everyone and is designed to be accessible to the entire community.

The West End Celebration takes place on Saturday, August 24, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 5:30 PM, and Sunday, August 25, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

The festival is held in the West End district of Sand City, specifically along Ortiz Avenue and Redwood Ave, between Contra Costa st. and Holly St. There are many businesses and studios open for the celebration off the main footprint as well. 

  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • Sunscreen and hats for sun protection
  • Reusable water bottles (water refill stations will be available)
  • Cash or credit cards for purchases from vendors and food stalls
  • A positive attitude ready to celebrate art and culture!
  • Friendly dogs are welcome. Be sure your pooch can handle large crowds and loud music.
  • Outside alcohol or coolers
  • Large bags or backpacks (consider bringing a small bag or fanny pack)
  • Drones or any unauthorized recording equipment
  • Bad vibes

For those who prefer to ride their bike or skateboard to the festival, a complimentary bike valet service will be available on-site provided by Greed Pedal Couriers. This eco-friendly option is encouraged to reduce traffic and parking congestion.

Parking is available in designated areas around Sand City. However, spaces can fill up quickly, so attendees are encouraged to arrive early, get dropped off, use alternative transportation options and or our free shuttle provided by MST

A free shuttle service will be provided by MST to transport attendees to and from the event from various points around Sand City. This service helps alleviate parking concerns and makes it easier for everyone to attend the festival. See map for details.

Several local food vendors will set up shop around the celebration, as well as several bars serving beer and wine. Open containers are permitted on the celebration footprint only.

Cash ATMs will be available on during the celebration.  All of our vendors operate their own POS systems, and many take various forms of electronic payments, such as credit/debit cards, Venmo, Paypal, and/or Zelle.
