#5 Barbara Orr Fused Glass Designs

I began studying ceramics at MPC 26 years ago (at 44 years of age). 3 years later, a new class was offered: kiln formed glass. I was hooked! While I still love creating in clay, glass is my passion. I quit my day job, and became an artist full time. While I’ve enjoyed some wonderful relationships in local shops and galleries, participating in local art/craft fairs is what I enjoyed most. These days (I am 70 years young) West End is the only event I participate in every year (have only missed 1) It has always been my favorite – getting together with other local artists, seeing old friends and making new ones makes this event very special ! And of course, the music ! I make all my glass pieces in my home studio in Pacific Grove. Whether my current subject is cats, sea life, 60s mod, the ocean, whimsy or abstract – every piece is created with joy. I still create dichroic jewelry and hair accessories (started way back when it was a new thing) because it’s still very popular (and expected by my decades long customers 🙂
